The fix is released in livecd-rootfs 2.408.4 which is in xenial-updates.
The only thing left is to get that package updated on the cloud image

I tested this in the same manner as the previous SRU (LP: #1605795), and
additionally verifying that /etc/resolv.conf is a symlink to
../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf. It all looks good to me. Tested version
2.408.4 from xenial-proposed.

Looks good to me.
Synced folders working, vm name is dynamic, no problem with hostname
when sudoing.
Also, I tried an apt-get update and did not get the error Luis had in
comment #28. Not sure what could've caused that.

We're making progress toward fixing the essential bugs in the vagrant
box (synced folders, vm name, hostname). However, we're moving the
discussion of whether to include config management packages to a
separate discussion.
If you have an opinion on whether or not the vagrant box should come

Your build looks good to me. I ran two vagrant instances with the box
at the same time, and verified that puppet & chef are installed.
Default synced folder is also present & working.
