Top version installable on Ubuntu repository via apt-get is 2.4.7. I
uninstalled, then downloaded the .deb for 2.4.9 version and installed it
and it crashed my network-manager, had to reinstall it and go back to
2.4.7. Any way around this? I need to get EAP working on Ubuntu 20.

This is a report for Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat). After some
investigation, my intuition is that it is the result of an interaction
between PulseAudio and ALSA.

This problem occured for me on an Intel Pentium III, today during automatic
update installation. The installation stopped because I had made changes to my
/var/run/grub/menu.lst to eliminate the boot time offer to start:
