I can also confirm this problem on Asus X555LAB.503, same as Pheppy
(#65). Brightness control does work from system settings and using
xbacklight works as well.

I agree with Daniel here. Not being able to lock the screen is a rather
critical bug, in my opinion. Can we at least expect this to be sorted
