This problem itself is resolved, sorry...
But in fact I had a similar problem with Maverick, on a fresh install, during
the grub install process, the installer refused to install Grub... I had to
make it with Live CD and chroot...

It is really a bug but perhaps not directly related to Firefox, even if
modifying Firefox launching script is the solution (Cf Bug #35942) ==>
reassign bug ?
In fact I couldn't have flash at all... libflash-mozplugin was in fact neutral
but I couldn't install Flash 7 or 9.
If you add:
XLIB_SK
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUAL
+1
It works well. I confirm that even Flash 9 made FF 2 crashy.
I think Firefox pkg should be updated to correct this ?
(I use a S3 Savage card, I even desactivated DRI and this had no effect)

I had the same problem. In fact it seems to be a Flash problem...
Curiously, the only way I found to fix it was to install libflash-
mozplugin pkg.
I tried this morning to remove it and install Flash 9 from tarball, but
the crash came back.
Please try this solution and if it is confirmed I think
Problem resolved: pkg libflash-mozplugin was not installed by default

Just to add, desactivating java and javascripts solves the problem.
