@rich-ayotte I don't think it's fair to "blame AMD". They suck, but the
question is what does Canonical do about the non-working AMD drivers?
Canonical should detect the fact that the drivers don't work and do one
of 2 things:
1) Postpone the release, or
2) When doing an upgrade - prompt a human
I just found a workaround for my case (Brother HL-5370DW)
The original issue happens to me when i used the default driver:
"Brother HL-5370DW BR-Script3"
Once i switched to:
"Brother HL-5370DW Foomatic/Postscript"
I can now print from Firefox.

I've been experiencing the exact same issue ever since scanbd replaced
scanbuttond. My scanner is fujitsu fi-6130. New Ubuntu releases and
scanbd releases have not made it go away. I just reproduced it in Ubuntu
15.10 with scanbd 1.4.1-7.

It's puzzling that Ubuntu continues to release software that make the PC
unusable for A LARGE subset of users. Several months ago, while using
Ubuntu 15.04, a new kernel version was released that made it impossible
to log in and it affected every single user with AMD video card that
used binary dri
This bug it not hardware specific. I got 4 different PCs here that have
been purchased over the last 5 years. 2 Dells, 1 HP, and 1 Gateway. Some
have single processors, some have dual core, some are intel some are
AMD, some have nvidia some have ati, some have integrated intel video
cards.

I can confirm what era wrote. The identical thing happens to me and I
tried it on 3 DIFFERENT PCs (totally different hardware, setup etc, but
all running from ubutnu 7.10 live CD). Statistically speaking, if it
happens on 3 totally random machines EVERY TIME for me, what are the
odds that his is no
