yes it does. thank you for the tip!
not everybody might know that because it differs from the general user
experience(firefox, thunderbird, nautilus-> everything except "Open in New
Tab"-MouseWheel-shortcut in "List View"-Mode)

"Open in New Tab"-MouseWheel-shortcut appears to be working on the
* pathbar,
* in compact and
* icon view
but NOT in "List View"-Mode.
I think it would be helpful to add this functionality to the "List
View"-Mode.
