I'm using Clearlooks and it seems to be working fine. This isn't my
preferred theme, but it seems to solve the problem.
Do you customise your themes at all, once you have selected it? That
might have an impact too.

I have been playing around with 11.04 all day yesterday. I seemed to
have fixed the problem - it had something to do with the theme I was
using (Dust). I changed this and now the problem seems to have fixed
