Binary package hint: soundkonverter
Using v.0.3.10-1 from universe, SoundKonverter silently fails to
transcode my FLACs to aac (.m4a) format.
Files are generated with very small (3KiB at most) file size and the
logs shows an ffmpeg error:

The issue was resolved by running grub-install in a rescue console.

On startup, often I find that no network connections are working and
that NetworkManager needs to be restarted (via
/etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart). At the same time, there's a
segfault in my dmesg logs:

Having upgraded to the 2.6.31-1 kernel and the modesetting Xorg, I need
to use 'nomodeset' because of a glitch in the kernel detection of my
laptop's LVDS-connected screen. But X starts and shows only a blank
screen. I can change to terminals via ctrl-alt-F1.

I'm testing Karmic and am enjoying the experience so far. However, I
upgraded with 'aptitude full-upgrade' and had the following output:

I can confirm that those commands restore the functionality in linux-
image-2.6.30-6-generic (AMD64). I mentioned the self-built kernel
(testing mainline and linux-next) I didn't see the bug in either of

This also affects me using Kubuntu Karmic and flashplugin or
flashplugin-nonfree with Firefox 3.0 and 3.5 as well as Konqueror. I
have the same experience with Amarok/Phonon failing to find my sound
device, but I have an ATI IXP sound card (AC97 in SB400 south bridge).

I have the same problem AMD Turion64 with ATi chipset running... well I
think I've seen errors from it since Dapper. This error comes from the
version in Feisty against a 2.6.20-5 kernel.
