Maybe you can borrow a DVD or CD player from a friend, I had an old CD
player lying around after replacing the DVD with it, the install went
fine as usual.

I also encountered this problem while (trying to) install Alternate 9.10 Beta.
My confguration:
- ASUS M2NOV-VM motherboard
- AMD64 dual core processor
- Sony NEC Optiarc DVD RW AD-5170A UDMA/66
- SATA harddisk
I also tried, with the same result, Alternate 9.04 and 8.10.

The same for me, Ubuntu 9.04 (32 bit), with the 0.9.26.4 from the
package manager, and the 0.9.26.2 .deb's from the Lazarus site.
Except the Form.color, also the GroupBox.color doesn't work.
When I change either of the above, the only thing that changes is the
color of the GroupBox edge!

I've got the same problem with my Acer Aspire 1354 notebook: everything hangs
and only the capslock is blinking with Gutsy 7.10, after after entering the 64
bit Wep key. Unsecured networks work fine.
Never had success with Feisty 7.04 also not with the NDIS wrapper.
