Please consider this issue as closed. This looks to be an issue with the
HDMI cable i was using. When using a new cable, I am no longer able to
reproduce this issue.

I use wvdial and gnome-ppp to connect to my reliance net connect data
card..
but software center doesnt detect the network connection..
therefore i cannot install anything using software center..
