[Bug 1768521] Re: ghost files remain after moving files

2021-07-02 Thread Kanehekili
Just installed fresh Linux Mint 20.1 XFCE. With Thunar v1.8.14 the problem persists: Moving a file from local to mounted smb share (two thunar windows) and then back again works: refresh ok. Moving a file from remote to a bookmark (e.g. Documents) will not trigger a refresh on the mounted drive/

snap is a another way to hurt the linux desktop experience. It is a shame watching developers rendering linux unusable/ugly again. I've spend some time creating new themes (noting that its documentation is very bad)just to see that it will not be honored by snap packages. Sorry not to be constru

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-02-15 Thread Kanehekili
I'd like to second apinunit (comment #36) that the cifs solution is a workaround. But the GNOME people do NOT seem to be interested in solutions that kind. They're dreaming of a "tablet" gnome, disregarding the wishes of their users... So for me it looks like that GNOME is dying, which is a shame

Well, you should not remove all of gvfs, but the gvfs-fuse package. That can be done using the "sudo apt-get remove gvfs-fuse" command or using the "Synaptic" package manager. After that I created an entry in the file /etc/fstab - there is a lot of documentation around- I'll recommend the "arch w

I would like to answer to comment #27. It was Fedora 17 that worked without any problems. I could solve the problem by removing gvfs and using the package "cifs-utils". Once defined the proper data and credentials in "/etc/fstab" cifs works without problems and about twice as fast. The average u
