If you install 12.04.3, this bug occurs even with the default kernel
now, which appears to be 3.5.0.
Dovecot appears to require the block_suspend to function. At least I
haven't been able to get dovecot working in enforce mode and the
block_suspend was the only thing that I could see being denied.
I still have this all the time, with a wide range of jpegs. Sometimes
when I open them eog is stable, but very often it crashes about a second
after loading (and showing the image) for the same image.
It sounds like this is the same issue, so I'll add to this bug report:
I am also on Ubuntu 13.04

Hello,

Hello,
when using empathy-chat on the latest quantal builds, I see relatively

Even with no activity on irc and the empathy windows in the background,

I also occasionally get logged out because Xorg crashes and then
automatically restarts.
Most of the time so far it has been when coming out of suspend-to-ram,
but today it has also happened after trying to start an image with eog.

It works fine for me on a MacBook 4,1 and I didn't need any further
patches. But I am running Karmic with only the kernel updated to

for fixing this.

I am having the same issue on my macbook. 9.04 beta is using the
ata_piix driver instead of the AHCI driver. As others mentioned earlier
in this thread, the problem seems to be that the Apple bios emulator
puts the controler into legacy mode (for which the ata_piix probably is
the correct driver).
Thanks, disabling "automatic building" seems to have fixed it for me.
Previously I had tried it with a variety of Java versions (sun java 1.6,
sun java 1.7beta, iced tea) and several eclipse versions (3.2, 3.4M6a)
and all showed the same problem. It does also seem to have something to

Kernel 2.6.24-12.18 works nicely for me on a MacBook 4.1. I do see the
same "problem" as Mario though that one needs to press fn to get at the
fx keys rather than the special symbols. (So for example to press alt-f4
one now needs to press 3 keys simultaneous) As described by Chris, I can
fix it by
Same problem here. For me it seems to have gotten a lot worse since a
fresh install of gutsy. Didn't really have the problem with feisty
before, but now this happens very frequently (several times an hour). I
mostly see it in firefox, but other applications such as thunderbird,
eclipse, gnome-sys
