Hi Thiago,
sorry if my comment about Debian upset anyone, it was intended as as guidance
that the Debian installer does not have this issue which could be helpful to
find the problem - nothing more.

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio:i386 worked.
Just make sure that the output port pulse picks for the VMWare client is
correct, it was piping through the headphone port by default.

f it is full-screen on my right-hand monitor, when it re-gains focus
after I have done something else, it jumps to a different workspace.
So for me, the workaround is to simply leave the Remmina fullscreen in
the left-most position of the workspace, and it will not jump between
work spaces.

To add to the last comment, if and only if keeping only one keyboard layout,
the user fix is indeed persistent.
Just delete the us keyboard layout alternative such that there is only one
alternative left in the list.

The user work around is not persistent between system restarts.

I have tried to confirm this fix in karmic (bug #504776) in my setup,
but I have not been successful to prove that this is the case.

I tried to confirm the 'race-free fix' in nfs-utils 1:1.2.0-2ubuntu9
(which is not released for karmic) - see bug #484209.

I added one logger debug line, after the first line in /etc/init/statd.conf
(see below)

This mount fails with my client stanza in/etc/fstab:

Since the message that started all this was about 'statd pre-start process

is the cause for my observed NFS mount problem. I will try to confirm later.
The error is caused by statd's pre-start script attempting to star
