FWIW, I've built an ISO image locally using noble-proposed plus the
debian-cd changes and verified:
1. Booted a VM from the ISO, selected 'Try Ubuntu Studio' and verified that the
running kernel is lowlatency:

I need to look at Plucky and Questing. I think they're currently pulling
in the generic kernel which is why we don't see the failure. But that
feels wrong.

Verification on Plucky confirmed that the new firmware blobs work
correctly with the 6.14 kernel. For Noble, the same firmware blobs

I don't think this is a kernel issue. The machine has a cdrom drive
which the kernel identifies correctly. You're booting from USB and not
the CDROM, so yes /dev/sr0 (the cdrom) has no media.

The patchset seems to have been dropped accidentally before release.
Since this is intrusive I'm going to close this as "Won't Fix" for
noble/linux. We can reevaluate later should there be a new demand for
this in the generic kernel.
