Firmware was already updated (verified both with fwupdmgr and by booting
into Windows and using Lenovo tools). I will work on installing a
mainline kernel.

Public bug reported:
LIRC is not functioning, and is causing various aspects of my system to
hang. For example, it slows initial login. Stopping LIRC is also not
possible, and therefore, even uninstalling it is impossible without
neutering /var/lib/dpkg/info/lirc.prerm.
This happened immediately
I've managed to upgrade to 0.24 successfully, so this bug needs no
further action. I'm new to launchpad and am not sure of the
appropriate steps to take with the bug status.
