Hey guys, I noticed from the upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy Alpha 4 that
whenever I'm surfing the net on Firefox (tried both Firefox 3.0 Beta,
and Firefox 2) my computer will randomly crash on me and not respond in
any way - the mouse will stop moving, CTRL - ALT - BACKSPACE does
Awesome, I was about to post a bug about this same thing. I can't wait
for the prerelease update to this.

problems. It can't standby, but it hibernates. But that matters little

I have an Edimax 7128 Wireless PCI card. At Edimax's website
(www.edimax.com), they provide a Linux driver for the card. The driver
is RT73, but I haven't been able to successfully build the driver and
use it. By default, Ubuntu notices the device and uses RT61, I believe.

This happens to me as well. And I'm in Windows. I'll be using Firefox
2.0.0.3, and have some tabs opened up, and then my computer just
freezes. I believe this would be a Firefox issue, and not an Ubuntu
issue.

I have the same issue, but with one cdrom. I had originally upgraded
from Edgy to Feisty via Update-Manager, but I later decided to install
Feisty from scratch with the Herd 4 CD. Ever since the scratch install,
I've had a double CD entry, and it gives me the same error, "special

Every time I close F-Spot, it sits there, and then the dialog window
asking if I want to Wait or Force Quit the app pops up. I told it to
Force Quit, and the bug report keeps popping up. I do not know quite why
it is crashing in the first place.

In Edgy, suspend was not working, but hibernate and shutdown still
worked. In Feisty, if I click on shutdown, the computer shuts down
completely, but then boots back up. Hibernate and suspend never actually
put the computer into a sleep state.
My computer is an i945 chipset,
Ok, so I kept the older kernel - 2.6.17.xx so I could keep getting
updates... and when I updated to 2.6.20-8-generic, I noticed the network
manager saw a wired connection.
I typed "lspci" in a terminal, and this was the output:

Now, I still have Feisty on my machine, but I also have the kernel
2.6.17.x from Edgy still on there. When this fix is released in the
latest Feisty kernel, would I be able to update it from the Edgy

Oh... no I did not. I hadn't even thought of it. I just knew it was hard
to get drivers for it - due to a somewhat lack of driver support on
Attansic's main page. But I had read that somebody had been allowed to
port it to Linux.

I ran a dist-upgrade from Edgy to Feisty Herd 2.
I had my Attansic Ethernet L1 driver working perfectly in Edgy, but in
the 2.6.20-5 kernel in Feisty, it appears the driver is broken (I'm on
my laptop now). I also am unable to boot into the older kernel in GRUB -
it tells me

Well, in full detail, the boot-up screen is greyscale and incomplete -
the progress bar looks like a bunch of artifacts.
The login screen then appears as normal - in color - and then I can
enter Ubuntu. I can even use Beryl. The problem I have is when I am
shutting down.

I've got the same issue, where I will try to restart X and it will black
out with the blinking cursor.
However, I have an Intel GMA 950 using the i810 driver.
Please also note I am using Ubuntu 6.10 x86-64.

tool to put my computer in hibernate after a while, and when I turned my
computer back on, I'm guessing it was resuming from hibernate, and it
came back with video... but no sound. But I'm sure support for this will
