system slows and free

I always suspend, and for months resume had been faultless.
No system changes at all, except for automatic updates.
I have had about ten system hang events over three days, requiring long press
at the tower button.
Fresh boot never hangs. A few minutes after suspend and resu
(Cont) Trusty Tahr beta. 64 bit version. Updated earlier today then
shutdown. Logon set to automatic without password.

Title:
xfdesktop crashed
I had restored a backup by deja dup, which was actually from a 13.10 32bit
Xubuntu install on a different partition. I now have all my home directory from
that installation. All seems well. The current bug report was initiated by
apport immediately after reboot.
This machine is an i7 desktop.

After the above post: On a second try to move the newtab tab and drop it
on the document area something a little different occurred. The cursor
did not immediately become a hand. It remained as a regular pointer even
as I held the mouse button down, until several seconds afterwards I
moved over the
Hand froze when I dragged the tab of newtab page down to the document area of
the same page and released the mouse.
Control -Q worked to get me out. Restarting Firefox restored all OK.
Ubuntu Natty with xfce 4.8 updated this week.

I mouse dragged a tab from the right of a window to the left.
The first time everything worked fine then immediately afterward, I did
that again without clicking in the document area of any tab. The cursor
became a grab and drag hand, the mouse would move OK, even over the
[fixed]
After reading question #174349 synaptic package I was able to fix the above.
In /root/.synaptic/synaptic.conf I found a reference to natty. Changed it to
oneiric.
Still threw an error but slightly different.
I did
sudo apt-get remove synaptic
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get install
PS. This machine is i7 desktop HD Benq screen. All running smoothly on the
other partition.

I wanted to export all my notes to html. Really, I would prefer to do it all in
one step and to one big file, however, I did them one at a time to separate
files.
The plug in threw an error message nearly every time, suggesting my file name
