When I try and save the attached document in .doc format
(97/2000/XP/2003) -- other Microsoft Word formats have similar issues
-- text around some of the endnote markers gets converted to
superscript.
Note also that editing the word version to remove the superscript
attribut
oops -- that should read "stray endnote tags" around a block of text.
I suspect these get into the document when endnotes are added then
deleted, then text gets added back in.
Did I mention I hate wysiwig editors where you can't actually see all
the formatting that is going on?

My son is using libreoffice on Ubuntu for school work. The school
requires papers to be submitted in .doc format (yes, I know that sucks).
When he saves as .doc, text around the endnote references gets
arbitrarily converted to superscript.

For reasons best known to myself I created a new partition for my Ubuntu
9.04 install and copied the files over.
I then ran 'sudo upgrade-grub' and it appeared to run fine.
I then had to fix up fstab, to enter the new UUID of my new partition.

Install went fine.
Reboot died after some usplash messages re failing to initialise various
resolutions.
Fix was to boot into rescue disk, mount the root drive and rename
/etc/X11/xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Slight embarrassment here. I decided to check what version of vino is
installed on my system only to discover that it is not actually
installed.
So the error message is technically correct, the version of vino on my
system didn't have telepathy ;)

I just tried creating a fresh user account. I don't experience the problem
with that account.
I keep /home in a separate partition and although I do new installs, I like
to keep my /home.
So my guess is there is some configuration setting under my user that
triggers the crash.
So, to move this
Note that the original problem was with current Jaunty.
Anyway, just did aptitude update and aptitude upgrade, reboot and the
problem is still there.

The real problem here is that pulseaudio is crashing. Once it has
crashed the volume control can't connect to it.

Looking at /usr/lib/command-not-found the top line is as follows:
#!/usr/bin/python -S
The -S says don't import site.py on initialisation. Now it looks that
site.py is necessary to got the path set up correctly to find the
CommandNotFound module.
