Should gnome-screensaver be running after login?
It isn't for me on utopic and once I have it running in the background
then locking seems to work fine.

I've had a very similar experience. My Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped
working in the last few days. Was working fine before.

I have the bcm5974-dkms module installed but it doesn't work at bootup.
I find that I have to rmmod bcm5974; modprobe bcm5974 to get it to work.

The karmic release was in October and therefore to early to get Theora
1.1.1. It is currently in lucid and will therefore be in the next
release which happens to also be an LTS.
I don't think this would qualify to be pulled back into karmic or
