Additional note: the bug was filed after a boot that left the mouse not
operational, but after the mouse had been made operational by
replugging. The dmesg shows the single "logitech" line marking a not
operational mouse, but any other files will undoubtedly represent a

I can confirm that this problem exists with Ubuntu 12.04 up to date as
of today. I don't recall it happening right after upgrading from 11.10,
but after one of the subsequent updates. Unfortunatelly, I neglected
the most important item of noting after which update it occurred.
