Things are working OK now. I reloaded a bunch of stuff and finally got
things to work. Not good records of what I did, but I am fine now. Thanks

While working on a machine sharing the keyboard and mouse, the mouse and
keyboard was disconnected during the update. Updating machine lost both
and could not recover. Rebooted OK.
