If I use GStreamer with ALSA only or a non-GStreamer media player with
PulseAudio it sounds just fine. The problem also goes away when using

I have the same problem too.
I have an Intel 945GM. The problem occurs for me while using both
Jaunty's and Karmic's kernel. Upgrading xorg-xserver-video-intel to
2.7.1 from ubuntu-x-swat doesn't solve the problem either. I use the
32-bit version of Ubuntu with the generic kernel.
