Hi there,
the problem is even worse. Even the simplest network connections fail
most of the time, as the value to be set for connection.gateway-ping-
timeout varies randomly.
Steps to reproduce the problem (almost) consistently on Kubuntu Xenial
are:

Sigh. I know this is a "little" late, but for what it's worth: This bug
is definitely fixed. My two T410 and the virtual machine install GRUB2

Thanks, that's great news! When the fix is reviewed and included, I'll
test the installer again in VirtualBox and then - if successful - on

I'm afraid I can't report any success. I'm using Kubuntu Oneiric amd64
alternate daily ISO, timestamp "27-Sep-2011 05:23". The error is (at
least from my point of view) exactly the same: GRUB installs, updates,
then error message from the installer. If I continue the installation

two T410 thinkpads with this configuration, both got a parallel
installation (Natty beside already existing Maverick) by using

thanks for your work on this! Unfortunately, there's a problem with the
nightly alternate Kubuntu oneiric images (installer can't load kernel
modules), so I can only report that yes, the "Activate existing volumes"
option is there and asks for the passphrase to the existing crypto
partit
Thanks for your notes and the link! Your way is certainly easier as it
lets you circumvent the command line for the most part - with the
exception of restoring /etc/crypttab, perhaps? On the other hand, doing
it my way gets you acquainted with the basic commands for crypted
partitions, LVM, initram
I wish I had found this bug report sooner... Please take a look at my

Quietly reinitializing the crypt partition is a release critical bug,

volume for encryption" makes it visible to the installer as an encrypted
partiton, then going into "Configure encrypted volumes" and choosing
"Finish" asks for the passphrase. The problems start there...

I believe that the bug depends on timing issues. Either gobi-loader
