I was running with a similar setup as the one described in the forum
post. Setting the subnet mask to "255.255.0.0" helped.

Problem
1 I start an instance with the image below, the instance is starting fine. The
instance gets a default public address.
2 I associate the instance with an address.
3 I change the host-name of the instance, alters /etc/hosts, and install some
software.

I have the same problem but with a oracle-xe process on Dom0. My server
freezes after 3-4 days of operation.
