How would the average person know to (or know how to) avoid this
problem, before it happens?
Is there something in the -116 kernel that's so great, and time
sensitive that it's worth putting folks through the huge inconvenience
of tracking down the root cause and booting into a previous kernel?

Shouldn't the -116 kernel be blacklisted? On a fresh install I'm still
seeing the -116 update available.

after connecting for the first time, i cannot reconnect. the applet
shows the cloud with a "!". connecting from the applet does nothing.
clicking connect from the ubuntu one folder causes the button to grey
and say "connecting" but nothing after that.
