Not really a taglib bug so much as corrupted files; the fix implements
logic to handle this. Looks like the Kubuntu maintainers are just lax at
getting 1.6.3 out to fix this problem.

OK, I'm revising my opinion. I think it's a problem with TagLib 1.6.2
and that it's fixed in TagLib 1.6.3, which is not in 10.04. Talking to
Kubuntu maintainers about it.

One of the affected users posted some files and it's been confirmed that
this bug is nonreproducable on Arch Linux and Funtoo/Gentoo Linux. FWIW,
it's also very likely not an Amarok bug at all. Most probably they have
screwed up their Qt, TagLib, GLib, or glibc packages.

@Chris before you get all sigh-y and piss and moan, you may want to
consider the fact that this is a problem that is only affecting *buntu
10.04 users. So sigh in the right direction, please.

I still can't reproduce this. I would suggest trying it off of NFS.
NFS can cause all kinds of problems with all kinds of things.
Add a local, not NFS directory to your collection, and try the same
operation on those files (if you are using copies of your files, make
sure you pick the right copie

Xine/Helix doesn't know anything about kioslaves, so passing audiocd:/
to Amarok is completely invalid for CD playing. My guess is that that's
the kscd problem too. Closing for Amarok, leaving for kdemultimedia --

I don't know...I believe it should be possible to compile taglib from
source but skip the 'make install' and then compile Amarok from souce
(giving it the correct SVN taglib include directory), likewise skipping
'make install' and running from that directory.

Are you the owner for every single file? Do you have read-only
permissions where you should have write permissions?
Try:
chown -R : ~/.kde
See if you get any errors.
Try:
chmod -R u+rw ~/.kde/share/config

I don't know, I don't use Ubuntu...I use Gentoo, and compile Amarok from
source. I really can't reproduce it so it's quite difficult for me to
try to debug. I wouldn't be surprised that using binary packages from
different distributions could cause troubles.

This is not a bug. You're just not using the right arguments. It's
%filename, not %file.
%file works in some cases due to the way the regular expression parser
works. But %filename will work every time.

Amarok can't store the album images inline because of the license from
Amazon (where it gets the cover art from)...the art must be
refetched/refreshed after a certain number of days (which I believe is
generally done automatically). Storing the images in the file would
make it near impossible to p

surprised they're not on top of it, considering the risks of bugs in
filesystem drivers.
Anyways, Amarok will indeed relaunch the scanner process a number of

few places in that file for a few different types of playlist items, and
needs to be changed in all those places.

the password isn't showing up in there any

That's a very old version of ntfs-3g. They've had six stable releases
since then, fixing bugs ranging from metadata issues, permissions
problems, and even corruption. Again: Google is your friend.

I don't know what ntfs-config is. A quick Google shows that it has
something to do with a GUI way to set up ntfs-3g, since it's so
difficult to set up. You could have Googled this yourself. Or, learn
how to use "mount" or /etc/mtab.

NTFS driver. What NTFS driver are you using?
You should *NOT* be using Captive. If you are, stop using it

Sqlite is pretty good and has gotten better but if the issue is solved

Anyways, as has already been discussed here, this is a TagLib bug, not
an Amarok bug. There are reasons that it wasn't fixed
1) You recompiled Amarok from SVN source but not taglib. TagLib 1.4 is quite
old by now, and a huge number of bugfixes have been checked into SVN since
then. The problem doesn't sound to me like it's an Amarok issue, because we
just pull in the tags TagLib gives us. I'd recommend recompiling
