I've faced this on and off. I don't know what triggers this behavior,
but once it started I think it stays until the system is rebooted (not
sure if rebooting solves this though). One more thing I've noticed
happening with this is that, the "Lock screen" from menu doesn't work -
I've to use Ctrl-Al

Update: I seem to get the normal nautilus windows if I check
Edit->Preferences->Behavior->Always open in browser windows. But it
shows very minimal (like the screen shot in the forum thread) stuff if I
uncheck the same. I don't remember fiddling with that setting even while

I've the task and main-menu bar moved to the bottom and I removed the
top desktop-menu. I.e. it's exactly like MS Windows. But I still see the
