problem is fixed! The gradient on the login screen isn't a perfect
gradient, but that's a different issue.

Everything on my machine is running abnormally, unbearably slow - From
opening an application from either my GUI (GNOME) to BASH. Simple tasks
like checking for an update to opening a web browser is just god-aweful
slow, yet it behaves just fine booting up from the HDD and run
@olivier.tilloy, unfortunately my system is not in the same exact state as
it was in early June, so I cannot provide an answer knowing nothing else to
the system has happened between then and now.
As far as I remember, rebooting the system nor the Software Center resolved
the issue, at that time.

The GNOME Web/Epiphany Web Browser 'Preferences' screen locks onto the
foreground, forbidding any action in the background web browser windows.
This is not generally an issue until/unless the user wants to set up the
Firefox Sync service, located within Preferences, which in
Bug report info added for the 'epiphany' package into the Gnome Bugzilla

I use the update manager too, but implementing a manual upgrade into the
Software Center as an optional way to upgrade instead would be a great
option for users to upgrade at a later date if they choose to hold off
on it, but not wait the full LTS cycle.
