Sam, it happens fairly frequently (once every day or two) when I'm
running IntelliJ IDEA, which is a Java Swing app running on Suns JDK
1.6.0_18 JVM downloaded from Suns website. Although I can't reliably

Same problem here, happens both with Unity and Gnome. When it happens
in Unity, the screen flickers and many windows completely disappear, but
after doing something like enabling the workspace viewer, they reappear,
but performance seems to suck after that point. Running compiz-
