I can confirm that this is a bug with Ubuntu 7.10 and VMWare Server
1.0.4 from Ubuntu's partner repository. I don't know about hibernate,
but it happens on suspend. Following a suspend, vmnet1 isn't shown at
all when 'ifconfig' is run.
Anyone had any luck with a fix?

same exact problem here. My microphone definitely works because it works
fine with Skype. The timeline bar is always greyed out. It says its
recording and counts the length of the recording in seconds at the

Using vbetools as per http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=443747 ,
suspend now works. I get back to the desktop after, but wireless isn't
working at all (a different bug no doubt).
I presume this bug is still open though, as its a hack to get it to
work.

I mention feisty, but have not tried any other distros. I tried Fedora
3(?) a few years ago and suspend to RAM didn't work in that either.
