I am trying to load a backported drm module using dkms.
It is not signed so is listed as tainted and trace points are disabled.
As explained in the above article this is because the TAINT_FORCED MODULE flag
Fixed by using 'Restart with Add-ons disabled' -> 'Restart' -> 'Reset
toolbars and controls' -> 'Make changes and restart'
Presumably some weird config.

Unity never loads from lightdm, screen just flashes at random intervals.
Was able to load gnome-shell from gdm but it is pretty much unusable due to
visual artifacts.

There is a keyboard shortcut Fn-F7 to disable the touchpad.
If this is accidentally set whilst on lightdm the mouse is unusable on the
Unity desktop. This persists through reboots.

Naturally wanted an alternative.
Unpacked the .air file.
Tried to run BotaniculaLinux.swf
Says the file is unsupported

so as I suspected a permissions problem
Still seems to include the file tho

Attempt to compress dist-upgrade folder using right-click 'Compress'
functionality
Compression appears to work but gives 'An error occurred when adding files to
the archive' error message
This should not appear or should have a 'details' section which a
sources.list

After upgrade to 12.04 from 10.04 there is still a 'Ubuntu Netbook Edition'
label left in the desktop selector.
Choosing this leads to a broken desktop.
This should be removed on upgrade.
