It turns out if I turn off the umatrix extension, firefox works again.
So must be conflict between umatrix and libgd3. Chromium works fine with
all the extensions I have installed. But yes. I have to turn off umatrix
extension to use firefox under libgd3. Thanks!

Firefox just hangs with dot moving back and forth in front of the tab.

Well, the attached .webm shows the Problem in action.

Well i didnt think of that, so I tried it, too. When I turn off my Display that
is connected via Displayport, the Gnomeshell is killed after turning the Screen
on again. After turning on the Screen the login-window can be seen.
When you log in, its a new Session.
That would explain why in Bug #17

I haven't seen this bug in either the recent Karmic kernels, upstream or
current Lucid, so I guess it's been fixed somewhere.
Sorry for not tracking in a bit more closely.
It should be closed (IMHO).

Hi,
I can confirm this is fixed in kernel.org releases for a while now. I'm
currently 7000Km from the PPC box, and I'll test that in about two weeks
when I'm back on the Lucid kernel.
