Forgot to say... if you need it to work, just download madwifi from
their page and build it manually.
# make
and
# make install (hit r to remove the old one)
... as long as kernel headers and build tools are installed.
Seems to work with no problem.

Udev is the new device managing system for kernel 2.6, replacing
hotplug. Takes care of all devices (/dev) and some actions related to
them, like whenever you plug a new device. Udevd is a daemon for it.

about device-manager.
