Problem solved.
Whilst in Lucid, completely uninstalled then reinstalled grub2 whence
2.6.32.26-generic is now recognised.

This is happening with dual boot Vista /10.04 (Wubi) and 10.10
(dedicated partition - sda5).
The (small - 1GiB) recovery partition sda1 is designated on the menu as
the Windows loader and the main (90 GiB) Windows partition sda2 is shown
