When (or shortly after) opening/closing/saving files with gnome apps
(totem, gedit, epiphany, eog, etc.) cpu load goes up to 100% for about 5
seconds, freezing the ui. Very annoying while browsing images or the
like.
ubuntu 7.10 i386 on a T41 Thinkpad.

On Gutsy Beta, this bug is (mostly) fixed for me: 3d view is fine,
widgets are only occasionally missing. However it crashes quite
frequently now (bug #148037).

With desktop effects enabled, one cannot drop items to the desktop area
that would be covered by a shaded window were it unshaded: Try shading a
(larger) window and then move around icons on your desktop. You cannot
move them to where the window's
The bug persists in blender-2.44 from blender.org (python-2.5). The
static MesaGL version is fine though. (Almost actually: With desktop
effects enabled, it is semi-transparent...)

In feisty the blender ui is not drawn correctly: that is, neither the
widgets nor the the text appear. Sometimes they do redraw -- so moving
the mouse and clicking somewhere occasionally shows some widgets. But in
general the ui is unusable. The
