After I updated to Ubuntu 14.04, my system stopped loading a display.
Several reboots made no difference. I tried nvidia-331 and nvidia-304,
but the same thing kept happening: I got a message to say that "The

I think marking this as 'won't fix' is a mistake, for two reasons:
- This bug is most problematic for the most able users, and they are the ones

what to comment on whether it's GTK that supports it, but I can Alt-B, N
to launch Netvibes (for instance) on Ubuntu 10.10, and I can't in 11.04.

most commonly used bookmarks used to take under a second to launch with
the keyboard, now I have to mess around with the mouse. I think that's

Ali Shtarbanov is right. This is a major problem for me - Firefox is
now significantly easier and less frustrating for me to use under
Windows that on Ubuntu. It's taking me a while to get used to not being
able to middle-click on my bookmarks, and I've lost innumerable sessions

Andy - it'll be a couple of weeks until I'm next behind a firewall, and
I can test that. I've just looked on my system, though, and that file
doesn't exist - I'm assuming the installer removes it after it runs.
Are you suggesting I replace that file during the installer's execution?

I'm trying to rip a DVD so I can use it to learn German. The DVD
reports the first and only track as being 20 seconds long, though the
DVD is about two hours long with 29 chapters. The first chapter shows
up, and rips just fine, but the rest won't work.

every day or so, my computer completely crashes. It's sudden and
without warning, Usually it happens at the instant I click on
something, but it's a different thing each time, and I'm only clicking
on something innocuous - once a right-click on the desktop, once

Update: I added a symbolic link from /usr/lib/libX11.so to
/usr/lib/libX11.so.6 , and some of the dlopen error message disappeared,
unsurprisingly. It still crashes though - all the terminal says is
"Segmentation fault (core dumped)". I can't find the core dump, though.

I am also getting this problem with DVD+Rs. k3b brings up a dialog
saying "Found media: DVD+R (empty). Please insert an empty or
appendable DVD±R into drive _NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A (/dev/hdc)". I notice
that both I Sputnik have NEC drives.
It works fine when I click "force", but that then mutes ot
