I feel that Ubuntu should re-release 9.10 with grub legacy. Until this
bug has been resolved, we should continue to use grub legacy by default.
PS. Why the importance of this bug is undecided? This is critical too
me.

If you upgrade from 9.04, then you are still using grub legacy. Maybe I
should do that to avoid grub2 for now.

I have a question though. I have a HP s3600 desktop with XP x64 (OS does
not come with HP, I own XP). Will this bug affect me? Or maybe I should

After went into virtual terminal, I went ahead and try to execute the
script. Here are the result. Keep in mind that I reinstall Xubuntu to
reproduce the bug. I will try to include other bins from other sources
later on.

Out of two fresh install of Xubuntu Jaunty, the same bug happens once.
However, the problem goes away after a couple days.

I can confirm this bug on my Xubuntu Jaunty x64. Whenever I tried to
install xubuntu-restricted-extras Synaptic always asked me to install
PulseAudio along with it.
I checked the dependency and found that PulseAudio is not on the
dependency list, yet Synaptic wants to install it.

I use "sh" before command and can't open the file (sh
/RealPLayer11GOLD.bin - can't open file) (sh ./RealPlayer11GOLD.bin -
syntax error). After that I do a regular executing and
RealPlayer11GOLD.bin can be executed. I confirmed it is working with
"jre-6u10-linux-x64.bin" (Java x6
Same behavior with Xubuntu Intrepid x86-64 (Stable version). Pressing
eject button or issue command "Eject volume" in Thunar both cause CD
tray to retract right after CD ejection.
