Sorry, I don't have a 64 Bit environment available. I tested the above
command on 32 Bit and it works with 2.2.6-4ubuntu3. With
2.2.6-6ubuntu1~ppa0 I get exactly the same response as in comment #13.

I upgraded to the version in the ppa (2.2.6-6ubuntu1~ppa0) and still got
the -330 error. Reverted to 2.2.6-4ubuntu3 (the last version that works
on jaunty).

I just upgraded to Jaunty (beta) and the problem occured again. Manually
downloading, installing and pinning version 2.2.6-4ubuntu3 from
http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/n/ncpfs/ fixed it.
The changelog for 2.2.6-6 (the version currently in jaunty) does not

I upgraded to KDE 4.2 from the kubuntu-experimental PPA and can confirm
that the problem is fixed there.

A warning about the "msdfs root = no" workaround: This broke some of the
drive mappings on Windows clients. Shares that are mapped via "NET USE"
(like in a logon script) don't seem to be affected - a name is a name -
but connections manually set up through the GUI seem to store some
additional info
Another workaround: set "msdfs root = no" on affected shares or in the
[global] section of smb.conf. If you don't use DFS at all you can also
disable it completely with "host msdfs = no".
This also made UNIX extensions finally work. Note that I had to remount
all shares to get things working. I do
Exactly the same here on a Gigabyte EG45M-DS2H with monitor attached via

I can confirm that shares work with kernel 2.6.25 from the intrepid

need to compile kernel modules with the 2.6.25 kernel.
