I can confirm this issue, but it is more severe than it seems. When
Empathy crashed, the user has already signed in. Maybe a certain library
Empathy uses already set to receive Internet traffic. A buddy sent me a
message some while later, and the Empathy UI kept showing up and
crashing and showing
To solve this, execute,
sudo rm /var/cache/apt/*.bin
apt related cache and index are somewhat problematic, I personally at
least experienced twice. Cause is unknown (or it should be fixed now),
the solution is to delete cache and index (and execute #sudo update-apt-
xapian-index).
