@Benn, this is not the default GNOME behaviour, but when you install a
new application on your machine and it does not appear on menu, try this
as a workaround:
1. Right-click on the main menu bar
2. Choose "Edit menus" or type Alt+F2 on the keyboard and entry "alacarte"
(without quotes)
