To clarify, the mentioned bug is about the synaptics kernel driver,
which lives in the psmouse kernel module. This bug is about the ALPS
kernel driver, which lives in the same kernel module.
Unfortunately, the ALPS touchpads do not have MT support in the kernel -
yet.

This could also be a problem higher up in the tool chain. To know for
sure, testing the mtview program could be good. If any multi-finger
action, tapping or dragging, does not work there, then it is still a
kernel driver issue. A binary is attached. Run as "mtview
/dev/input/eventX".

So it seems the remaining problems are actually not bugs in the kernel
driver, but in the onboard keyboard and desktop touch support in
general. Is it alright to consider those as different bugs, and this one
solved?

would like to provide a new set of data the same way as in the first
post. Alternatively, providing output from evemu-describe and evemu-
record would be helpful.

Although the problem looks the same, it may very well be a different
reason here. Please try with the attached test3 package, and depending
on how that works out, there may be a fourth one as well. :-)
