After upgrading to Ubuntu 17.04 my banshee works as expected but crashes on
importing new files.
All extensions have been disabled, no change. A clean run on a new user behaves
the same. Console output attached.

The first restart after Kernel upgrade to 3.19.0-31 this morning, the
computer freezes when showing the graphical login-screen. Num-lock key
is non-responsive, hard reset is required. System is equipped with
Cypress XT [Radeon HD 5870] and runs the open source radeon driver.
Tested fbi - 2.10-1ubuntu1 via proposed update and it works again.

Whenever loading the next thumbnail image, evince completely hangs. This

Thank you Tom, this did the trick.
The Scanner was connected through a USB extension cable, that seems to have an
issue at maximum current. Now scanning is working at all resolutions.

Unfortunately only the following resolution/colour depth settings are working:
