not login to my system with nouveau even with a vt. So I disabled
nouveau and now using nvidia binary drivers with the famous :) EDID

Yes, the problems are very similar. Also your comment "Side-effect it

Hi,
I too live the same problem on Feisty Fawn Herd 4 box. But my problem
does not related to user permissions. I also have some problems with the
default gateway setting. It sometimes defaults to 0.0.0 and gives error.
I am still trying to understand what causes the problem.

I think so the same problem. At the manual partitioning stage of
installer i did not see any disk info. Then i ran qtparted from the
terminal. It was crashing regularly when i select one of my ntfs
partitions. It was giving the same error.
