I have not used RhythmBox much since reporting the bug because of it.
Since receiving your Email I have used it a lot but cannot reproduce the
loop! Apart from applying service to Gutsy all I have done is doubled
the number of albums in my music folder.

I have upgraded to Gutsy and still have the problem. It appears
'shuffle' is a red herring as it occurs without shuffle set on.

I have no idea what a "crossfading backend" is so if I am using it I
have not explicitly chosen to use it. How do I tell if I am?
