I installed the updates from the given ppa and rebooted. There is no
change in the sound behavior of my system.
Incase you ask, attached are the results of that log after using the new
packages.

I heavily modified my setup while working on this myself, so I've made a
fresh vanilla install of ubuntu.
Here's the log after the fresh install. I'll install the ppa next and
tell you the results.

There is every visual indication
This happens for me as well. The widget crashes and takes plasma with
it. I'm adding a virtual LAN with hamachi. When this new wired LAN is
added OR removed, the widget goes down in flames.
If I disable the widget then plasma survives (so for usability sake, I
have to keep this widget off if I

6u10-docs.zip. But I see several have mentioned this already. Renaming
it to jdk-6-doc.zip as the installer expects seems to have no ill
effect.
