Resolved my problem, in /etc/network/interfaces I replaced :
wpa-driver madwifi
wpa-ssid my_essid_name
wpa-ap-scan 1
wpa-proto RSN
wpa-pairwise CCMP
wpa-group CCMP
wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK
wpa-psk my_pass_phrase
by :
wpa-driver madwifi
wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
and I created /etc/wpa_suppli
Also, when I use ap-scan=2, iwconfig shows the correct ESSID, and that
is already a huge progress ! But it still can't associate...

Confirming on a Thinkpad Z60t, Feisty kernel 2.6.20-16-generic.
Sound doesn't work after a suspend-to-disk even if I reboot, I have to shutdown
and start it again.
The sound still works if I plug my phones in the jack output.
The fix change the HIBERNATE_MODE=platform instead of =shutdown in
/etc
Although the bug #24680 has had a fix release, this one is still open
because on Z60t 2511-EJG the Fn+F5 keys send nothing.

No key code is sent by Fn+5 on my Z60t with Feisty, 2.6.20-16-generic.
It occurs in gnome shortcuts, in xev, and also with this method :

Under Feisty these keys are now binded to XF86Back and XF86Forward, and
they work in Konqueror for instance. Let's hope it will be fixed in
Frefox upstream or in Ubuntu.

Dear maintainers, you'll find the patch for the source code in attachment, done
by Chuan-kai Lin.
It seems that this bug has not yet been reviewed, upstream at KDE...
And maybe it breaks other webcams support, I didn't test it.
Otherwise I built this .deb and it works well on my Feisty box (i386)
