However.. I installed OpenSuSE KDE Plasma and it exists there.
I dropped kernel version back to 4.4.0-21 and it occurs much less than
with new kernels, if it is of any help.

Agree with comments that it appears that the notification service
crashed. I've had 8-10 crashes today all related to notification
services crashing. I reboot, yet they return.

I just discovered that "Cancel" stops the loop. Not intuitive, given
that you would always want to attempt recovery if possible. If not,
then the functionality should then cancel it out with a message of
unsuccessful recovery attempt.

running LibreOffice 3.3.0, OOO330m19 (Build:6), libreoffice-3.3.0.4 on
Ubuntu 10.10.

I have the same results as Charles Profitt, If I close down the
wireless link through the HW switch or by using command: sudo ifconfig
wlan0 down, the hang doesn't happen. Same hang properties, blinking
cursor in upper left corner of monitor. It happens regardless of AC or
battery power.
