I see this same issue in 11.10 with the Intel GM45 chipset and a docking
station.
Screensaver kicks in and turns off the monitor and it never comes back.
I have to switch to a VT and restart lightdm. I see the
drm:drm_edid_block_valid error in dmesg.
The 'echo 0 > /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/para
This isn't specific to a particular graphics chipset. I see the
behavior on a laptop with an Intel GMA4500:

This works fine in jaunty now (xserver-xorg-video-intel

This isn't chipset specific. The same thing happens when I stick the
card in a 965 chipset system.

The X intel driver in current intrepid (2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10.3) and in
jaunty alpha 5 (2:2.6.1-1ubuntu3) does not correctly discover and
initialize the 2nd DVI port on a dual-dvi ADD2 card. The card is a
Wintec Pegasus ADD2 card:

I see the same thing on my Dell 745, but it happens when one of the
screensavers kicks in (haven't
been around to see which one).
