How to reproduce it:
1) Press or click on "Compose new message" button.
2) Enter "to", "subject"
3) Start writing it
At step 3, it is extremely slow. But if I skip step 2 and if I don't
enter the email address (to), it doesn't freeze or crash.

This bug is quite annoying because you don't know if the application was
launched or not.
I've seen users clicking a few times because of the lack of visual feedback.
It should be considered a several usability issue and have a higher priority,
not medium priority.

I don't understand why is it so hard to move the appmenu's blacklist to
an external configuration file? It would make everybody's life a lot
easy.
Eclipse work just fine with the appmenu.

I had the same problem here...the only way that I got my wireless back
was booting using the old kernel (the one before this update).

Same here.
Unfortunately the only workaround that I found was to comment the
"AuthInfoRequired username,password
" line on "printers.conf" file
(http://blog.avirtualhome.com/2008/11/21/cant-print-in-evince-gedit-claws-mail).
And as everybody said: it gets reverted.

I upgraded another Ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10 and this error does not occurs
there.
The main difference is that compiz is not enabled.
The computer is the same from the version where is occurring this error (only a
different partition)
