I have the similar issue.
My PC's information:
1、Intel 865Perl
2、raid card： Adeptec SCSI 39320-R
3、H.D： 4*74G的Seagate 1 SCSI
4、Raid: Software Raid0
5、Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

I met the same issue, my Epson Aculaser c1100 works fine with Ubuntu
7.04, but it does't with 8.04.
